Willow Farm
A Care Farm with Heart
Care farming for children in Kent
Willow Farm is a new care farm located in Maidstone, Kent.
We are members of Social Farms & Gardens which is a UK wide charity supporting communities to farm, garden and grow together. We are currently working towards the code of practice.
Our aim is to share the farm with those who may benefit the most. Referrals can be made for children with additional needs, excluded and vulnerable children from 5 to 16 years of age. We also offer farm visits for sen schools and sen units within mainstream schools.
Referrals to Willow Farm come via parents, mainstream schools, special education schools, fostering agencies, GP’s, local authorities and social services.
Our service users may have learning difficulties, autism, anxiety or mental health problems. Everybody is different but the benefits gained from contact with nature, caring for the animals and participating in real farm work has a positive effect on all.
Research has found that young people attending care farms display a significant reduction in self-reported mental health risks and behavioural regulation difficulties.
For further information on our school visits or to make a referral please contact us at Willow Farm.
